はじめに
絵本を作ることは、長い間の夢でした。
この絵本は、お面と簡単な文章を組み合わせた内容で、写真も構成もすべて私が行っています。好き勝手に作ったものですが、お手に取ってくださった方々から、たくさんの温かいお言葉をいただくことがあり、いつも恐縮いたします。
母を介護して見送った後、ある学会の場で、手作り絵本を発表したことがあります。はりきって、飛び出す絵本にしあげた力作でしたので、席を離れている間に破損が生じていたことは、思いがけない衝撃でした。また、あるグループ展で、絵本をめぐって、会の発足から長く仲間を育成してこられた長老のような方が、絵本を私に無断である人に譲ってしまい、話し合いが決裂して警察にも行ったあげく、ついに会を去ることになったことがありました。また、ある出展先のオーナーさんと、言葉の行き違いでご縁が途切れてしまうなど、思いがけず心が引き裂かれるような出来事もありました。60代半ばになりますが、引越しは30回くらいしておりますし、転職もそれなりにございます。離婚も再婚もして、また、悲しいことですが、実子たちとの絶縁も私は経験しました。また、ここに上梓しようと準備していた２０２６年元旦、私は、一過性全健忘症を発症しました。
私は言い合いに強い態度がとれない性格ですので、時間の経過とともに、私の中で煮詰まった何かが育っていき、こうして作品に生まれ落ちるのかもしれません。創作活動がいつまでできるかわかりませんが、苦悩の底から湧き出る物語だからこそ、美しく、心洗われるものでありますように願って、ここに贈り出したいと思います。感謝を込めて。

Introduction
It has been a long-time dream of mine to
create a picture book.
This book combines masks with simple text,
and I did all the photography and composition. I made it freely, but I am
always humbled by the many kind words I receive from people who have picked it
up.
After caring for my mother and saying
goodbye, I presented a handmade picture book at an academic conference. I had
been enthusiastic about creating the pop-up book, so it was a huge shock to me
to find that it had been damaged while I was away. Regarding picture books, at
one group exhibition, an elder member of the group, who had been nurturing our
members since its inception, gave the book to someone else without my
permission. The discussion broke down, and after going to the police, I ended
up leaving the group. I also had some unexpected, heart-wrenching experiences,
such as losing contact with the owner of one of our exhibits due to a
misunderstanding. I'm in my mid-60s, but I've moved around 30 times and changed
jobs quite a bit. I have been divorced and remarried, and sadly, I also
experienced estrangement from my own children. Furthermore, just as I was
preparing to publish this book, on New Year's Day 2026, I developed transient
global amnesia.
I'm not the type of person who can take a
strong stance in arguments, so perhaps something that has been simmering inside
me grows over time and emerges as a work like this. I don't know how long I
will be able to continue creating, but precisely because this story springs
from the depths of my anguish, I would like to present it to you in the hope
that it will be beautiful and refreshing. With gratitude.

あとがき
写真家であった、今は亡き父と、小名浜漁港でのことです。
「たかちゃん、あの月と船の写真撮って」
あとで叱られたのですが、父は港に浮かぶ漁船と、
水面に映る月影を一枚の写真に収めたかったそうです。
海まで60㎞ほど離れていましたので、撮り直しに行くことができず、
失敗した思い出です。
さて、実家には写真を現像できる部屋がありました。
白黒写真ですが、薬品に浸した用紙から、狙った写真が出現することに
わくわくしたものです。
お面作品を撮影してみると、角度によって表情が変わることに驚かされます。
背景を白い模造紙にしたり、黒いラシャ紙にしたりするのも、面白く感じました。
部屋を暗くして、光を当ててみると、思いがけない表情が顕れます。
いくつものお面を、暗い部屋で、小さな手元ライトで撮影してみるのも奥深く、
お面と撮影の深みに、私はどんどんはまっていくのでした。
物語は、さまざまな出展の度に、湧きあがりました。
たくさんのお面をあわせて絵本にするのは、とても楽しい作業です。
機会をお与えくださった関係者の皆さまに、この場をお借りして、

Afterword
This story happened at Onahama Fishing Port
in Fukushima Prefecture, with my late father, a photographer, and me.
"Taka-chan, take a picture of that
moon and boat."
My father scolded me later, but he said he
wanted to capture the fishing boats floating in the harbor and the moon's
reflection on the water in one photo. Without realizing it, I was photographing
the moon and fishing boats in the sky. Since the ocean was about 60 km from our
house, I couldn't go back and retake the photo, so it was a failed attempt.
My parents' house had a room where photos
could be developed.
It was black and white, but I was thrilled
to see the image I was aiming for emerge from the paper soaked in chemicals.
When I photographed my masks like this, I
was amazed at how their expressions changed depending on the angle.
I also found it interesting to use white
construction paper or black lacy paper as the background.
When I darkened the room and shone light on
them, unexpected expressions appeared.
Photographing many masks in a dark room
with only a small handheld light was a profound experience, and I became
increasingly fascinated with the depth of masks and photography.
These stories gradually emerged with each
opportunity to exhibit.
It was a lot of fun to put together so many
masks and turn them into a picture book.
I would like to take this opportunity to

opportunity.
