全国から集結した雪女たちの、
体育会系の会話と騒動を絵本にしました。
うっかり凍らせちゃって・・・

とおくはるかな鬼のくに
The far away Land of ONI
故郷・滝根町に伝わる鬼伝説。
大人になってみれば、
征服者側の鬼退治にすぎませんでした。
穏やかに暮らしていた人々の、
生活を踏みにじり、家族を奪い、
宝を持ち去ったのは、
みやこに住む ONI だったのではないでしょうか。
征夷大将軍 田村麻呂。
「お懐かしや」
レプリカの愛刀に出会ったとき、
胸にこみあげた、不思議な懐かしさ。
目に浮かんだ涙は、
一体何だったのでしょうか。

お面を創るようになって、
初めての本。
作品集として、
再構成しています。
お面に対する作者の想いと、
自然や、生きもの・作られたものとの、
あるがままの語らい。
自分では、これをアニミズムと思っています。

あやかし雪女
AYAKASHI YUKIONNA
日本に伝わる、雪女伝説。
若い男性に出会って、雪女は人となり、
男性の妻となって暮らします。
正体を知られないまま、
子を産み育てますが、
男性に、人間ではないことを知られてしまうのです。
もう、ここにいることはできない。
雪女は、子どもを託して、
去っていくのでした。
その後の物語は、多くの方が、描いていらっしゃいます。
私も、去っていった雪女の、
その後を描いてみました。
季節ごとに変化する雪女の、
託してきた子どもへの想い。
ついに再会したわが子からの、
つれない言葉が、胸に刺さります。
「そうか、それなら」
その言葉のあとに、思いがけない結末を迎えるのです。

I tried to draw what happened after that.
Yuki-onna, who changes with each season.
My feelings for the children I have entrusted to me.
From my child who has finally restarted,
The painful words pierce her heart.

After those words, there is an unexpected ending.
